Biography

Olena Kostiantynivna Omarhalieva was born on 17 September 1985 in Cherkasy. The surname is Kazakh in origin — her heritage — but she was born and raised in central Ukraine. That blend of cultures added a certain distinctiveness to her image, but the foundation is Ukrainian.

Music started early. Competitions, school events, the dream of a big stage. At 15 she enrolled at the Kyiv Estrada and Circus College — a school that has produced many Ukrainian performers. It trains stagecraft, not just voice.

After graduating she moved through several groups. D.Lemma — first stage experience in her teenage years. Then Do not touch, XL Delux, Karary, Lion. Not instability — a search. Each project gave new skills and a new audience.

2009 — two important events in a single year. First: the Chornomorski Ihry festival, where she shared the title of Best Female R'n'B Vocalist of Ukraine with Mika Newton. A public benchmark — her name placed in a real competitive context. Second: she met Yuriy Tolokonnikov, a musician performing as Tamerlan, through social media. Within months they began performing together.

2013 — married Tamerlan. Son Tymur was born the same year. The duo and the family became the same thing.

After 24 February 2022 Alena moved to Poland with her son. Tamerlan stayed in Ukraine, travelling to zero-line positions, supporting the military. They see each other rarely. She spoke about it: "He's often away on various trips around Ukraine, going to the front. When he comes back he's very tired and needs to sleep. I understand that." After returning from Poland to Ukraine she began volunteering actively — raising funds for soldiers, children and animal shelters.

TamerlanAlena: ten years together

From 2009 to 2020 TamerlanAlena was one of the most prominent duos in Ukraine. R'n'B foundations, lyrical texts, powerful voices — and what was happening off-stage added a human dimension: these were real feelings, not a stage persona.

2012 — debut album Spivay zi mnoyu (Sing with Me). Videos for Malo Meni and Mozhe Tse Ty — the first big hits. Songs that still appear in playlists and at events.

Over the years together the duo released five studio albums. The single Potoky Vitru (Currents of Wind, 2016) is one of the most critically praised. Ya Budu Tvoia (I Will Be Yours), Khochesh, Sviata Voda — songs that became part of the cultural memory of a generation.

In 2020 Alena announced the beginning of a solo project. The duo did not formally end — but the pause became the starting point for a new chapter.

Solo career

June 2020 — official launch of the Alena Omargalieva solo project. New name, new concept. Not "Alena from TamerlanAlena" but an independent artist with her own voice and her own music.

First solo releases: Na Krayu (On the Edge) and Malynove Vyno (Raspberry Wine). A different mood from the duo. More tender, deeper, more emotional. If TamerlanAlena was R'n'B with drive and passion, the solo Alena is more about inner states, feminine strength and vulnerability.

In parallel she began translating old TamerlanAlena hits into Ukrainian. First were Sviata Voda and Khochesh. Not simple translations — reworkings: new arrangements, new nuances in the delivery. Fans of the duo got familiar songs in a new form.

2024-2025 — particularly productive years. Muzhchyna, Tvoia, Ne Khody (with MamaRika), Ne Piana — Zakokana — releases that landed in streaming and social media. Each song is a separate emotional story where Alena hides neither vulnerability nor strength.

7 November 2026 — major solo concert at the Palace of Sports in Kyiv. The first at this scale in her solo career. New sound, exclusive costumes, choreography, live music and guest performers whose names are still secret. The team promises: audiences will see Alena Omargalieva in a completely new light.
